Mother Marrow, Isaac Fosl-van Wyke

$10.00

FRIDAY APRIL 5th

:: Mother Marrow ::

Hailing from the mountains of the Big Ivy Creek Valley (on unceded Tsalaguwetiyi land), Mother Marrow is the musical project of Charity Cimarron (they/them).

Mother Marrow is a dark, ritual folk expression, born out of a deep love of the natural world, and an intimate understanding of the magical process of transmuting pain into belonging. Striving towards beauty and truth, music as a communal sacrament is the thread that is always running through this work.

The sound of Mother Marrow is elemental and powerful, with deep drones, complex acoustic finger-picking, trance-inducing melodies, and strident vocals, calling up tears or sending shivers down your spine.  Bewitching and poignant, Mother Marrow's music and imagery channel the voices of the elements, and the beings that dwell between, beneath and beyond. A musical journey into the depths...these tunes have teeth and tenderness.

Isaac Fosl-van Wyke is a songwriter and puppeteer based in Louisville, Kentucky, whose whimsical poetry is haunted by brutalities past and present. Biting cultural critique resides in mythical, rhyme-heavy storytelling, supported by harmonic layers from outstanding Kentucky musicians (Joan ShelleyNathan SalsburgLacey GuthrieAnna Krippenstapel, and more). All held together by Isaac’s singular voice, the songs quiver with anxiety and hope while confronting crises of cultural genocide, climate change, and industrial capitalism.

Doors at 6pm. Music at 7:30pm. $10 Admission. $5 students.
